Hi all!!
For those who have diabetics just started will agree with me. The sight of needle almost drives u crazy…. THIS IS TIP TO MAKE IT MORE COMFORTABLE…
First of there is a specific way of storing the insulin bottle… preferably in a refrigerator, if not available u can store it in glass of water. The level of water is decided by the height of the insulin bottle. It should not drown in it, should come to half to three fourth of the bottle.
Now how to start with injection. First the temperature of the bottle should be brought to the level of body by gentle rubbing between the palms. Then take the syringe, and draw the amount air (till same amount of insulin you are supposed to take) now poke the center of the bottle and inject the air (to negate pressure issues, sometimes insulin doesn’t come out). Now draw the prescribed amount of insulin. Now comes the most interesting part. It can be taken at abdomen (stomach in common parlance) thigh. Basically anywhere where there is lot fat and both hands can reach. Now raise a fold of skin with left hand (non dominant hand), now poke at the peak of the skin fold
REMEMBER ITS IMPORTANT TO GO STRAIGHT DOWN 90 DEGREE INTO THE SKIN.
Now you’re done with it!!! Didn’t seem that painful? It’s not painful…

Taking insulin with a syringe is bit painful……. my dad is diabetic and he takes insulin regularly and uses a flexi pen for that. It is easy to take insulin via a pen as you need to adjust the units of insulin ( insulin is filled in the pen before hand )which you need to take and then just give it a shot.
Congrats for your first post in our diabetes community!
Great work! keep going ….. doctor!
its really painful if not taken properly.. a common mistake many prople make including a few nurses.. they give intradermal ie poke the skin at obtuse angle almost close to 180 degree its really painfull.. if taken the way i've told.. its not…
hey.. good job.. how do u manage to do everything man..
